Where: Poplar Mountain Conservation Area, Erving (Parking lot is on the north side of the road at 145 Old State Road)
When: Sunday, April 27th from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Description: Join Mount Grace and botanist Karro Frost to observe and identify the diversity of organisms emerging in spring! This walk is part of the City Nature Challenge citizen scientist event happening around the world April 25th - May 5th. Please bring your phone or a camera to add your observations to iNaturalist for the City Nature Challenge 2025 in Western Mass. Loading the iNaturalist app on your smart phone before the walk is helpful. It is free in the iPhone and Google app stores.
Karro Frost is the Conservation Planning Botanist for the Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program, a position she has held since January 2013. Prior to that Karro was a Senior Scientist with New England Environmental, a consulting firm in Amherst, MA. She received both her undergraduate degree in Geography and master’s degree in Environment, Technology and Society from Clark University in Worcester MA. She lives in Central Massachusetts. Her work is focused on the Endangered, Threatened and Special Concern plant species in the state. She has been using iNaturalist since 2019.
